Victory Landscape Services creates designs that are unique to each of our customers. One of the most important and overlooked parts of our job is listening to our customers and understanding what their desires are for their yards. What plants do they like or dislike? What are their favorite and least favorite colors? How are they going to be utilizing the space? Plants act as the icing on the cake and features such as patios, fire pits, large pots, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, and water features act as the body which compliments the landscape. When we are designing a landscape, we want to tell a story about that person — and similar to a verbal story, the more details there are the more captivating it is.

The two most frequent requests from customers are low maintenance plants and an abundance of color. Planting the ‘right plant in the right spot’ is the first step in having a low-maintenance landscape. A plant placed in the wrong spot that does receive the right growing conditions, such as the amount of light, moisture, space, and soil pH, will not grow as expected or may grow too large for the space provided.

We use perennials in the environment we are creating along with evergreens and trees to provide color in the landscape throughout the entire year. The majority of people spend their time locked away indoors, having to work or sleep to recover from their exertions. It’s a shame — outdoor spaces are wonderful, and they have a positive impact on our physical and mental well-being. We start off most consultations by inquiring about the budget that has been decided upon for the project. This for us is one of the most important questions, as it tells our designers what type, what size, and how many plants to include in the design. There are multiple different styles of landscapes, and knowing the budget allows us to quickly present the customer with a product that will suit their needs as well as their budget.

We think of our consultations as more of an interview; both us interviewing the customers and the customer interviewing our team. Landscape projects require an abundance of communication with the customer, and we want to ensure that we are in fact a good fit for each other to ensure a long-lasting relationship!
